Ciclostile Architettura with Estudio PKMN are one of the five offices selected for the second phase of YAP MAXXI 2014, the annual program for the promotion and support of young architecture organized in collaboration with MoMA / MoMA PS1 in New York, Constructo in Santiago, Chile, the Museum of Modern Art in Istanbul and MMCA National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul

PICNICTOPìA

Picnictopìa is an installation which, through the use of iconic and representative form of a simple and direct module as the picnic table, aims to recreate a place of relationships, passions, games and discussion .

The basic module of the project is a single picnic table. Spaces and picnic tables are part of our collective memory and recall the political and emotional ties that arise from the culture and practice of sharing and socializing. A simple element (a plan, two seats, some supports) that allows complex relationships and that implies a spatiality open and flexible .

In addition to the basic module, using other elements ( kit) helpful to feel the natural experience associated with the picnic, as well as to provide shade, seating, water and space for the rest of the visitors to the museum or to citizens and users of the external public space. Among the tables will be inserted standard size tubs containing grassland, water, simple plans for pedestrian use and umbrellas to shelter from the sun.

In October, after the first phase of the life of the installation at the MAXXI outer space, we will proceed with the removal of several modules that can be immediately reused in other places of the city or stored temporarily pending the determination of the new location. Rome has an urban very powerful identity and a rich creative and associative fabric: processing PICNICTOPIA in new prototypes capable of activating several public spaces of the city is thus an opportunity to give voice to the citizens, enhancing forms of participation and urban collective intelligence .
