Lacktopia

Enorme studio’s ingenious stand for the global robot expo in madrid was built using one single element, IKEA’s lack table. the structure served as a stand for meetings, conferences, debates and professional visits during the expo, while it continues being used as furniture in the space after the fair’s end. Referring to it as ‘lacktopia’ or, ‘lack table utopia’, the spanish studio used 330 IKEA lack tables to construct an infinite number of situations, from a grandiose pyramid structure, to configurations of smaller stands and any possible situation in between. when combined, the tables transform into small benches, stairs, ‘towers’ for company banners, a giant billboard or other, smaller scenarios. after the expo’s end the structure is being used as a meeting point for la nave, where citizens, businesses and a vibrant network of innovative professionals who seek to accelerate their ideas and projects to transform the city of madrid.
